Question on editing mpg's with Premiere 6.5
Posted by sailor on October 25th, 2007

Hello:

I recently put together a new system and the capture card I purchased
captures in mpg format. I was using (for years) a dc30+ on a win98 machine,
capturing avi's via avi_io, and editing with premiere 6.5.

The quality of the mpgs that I capture is fine.. I can capture with
different levels of compression etc.

The question I have is whether Premiere 6.5 will handle the editing of
these files. I've messed around a bit and it seems ok but from what I've
read mpg is not "native format" for editing within premiere.

I am wondering if there is a program that generally handles mpg better than
premiere... or would premiere pro be a better choice, or is there a plugin
for premiere that is beneficial for editing mpg's.

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,
sailor

Adobe Elements 3.0 will handle MPG.
