ECS is a low budget board. It is the first board I would choose
if my goal was to build a computer at the lowest possible cost.

It is also the last mb I would choose for a video workstation.

Im over 'budget' PCs anyway, ive had several over the past 5 years. To me,
a computer that is flakey is not a computer at all, its a piece of crap and
I dont care how fast it can blow its stack. My method would be to buy a
solid base, and maybe wait unitl you can afford it before going for the big
ass hard disk or graphics card.

I would agree that with ECS you can built a very budget PC, but who said
anything about flakey?
I have two PC's built on ECS motherboards, I never have any flaky
performance.
Rock Solid Stable. So far about the most stable of the last 15 PC's I had
built and owned, but I would attribute that to using Win XP, not the
motherboard.
Most PC problems anyway are mismatched components, IRQ conflicts, improper
bios settings, add in cards in the wrong slot etc.
I have never had any problem with an actual motherboard itself, maybe I am
just lucky.

I used an ECS pro and aside from the same occasional loss of cmos
settings others have mentioned I've had zero problems with it.

Hi Sam,
Sure, it is www.ecs.com.tw

and http://www.ecs.com.tw/download/bios_m.htm
for choosing the motherboard, the exact bios that worked for me was
the latest one, request byTSD version(tech support dept)
version date 02/10/29
it is the top on the list:
http://www.ecs.com.tw/download/k7s5a.htm

Also that was for an older board I had, the second board I ordered never had
this problem so I never had to bother. I believe it came with the latest
version.

Good Luck,
AnthonyR.
