drive acoustic management. disable it. most drives will let you do this,
though not all vendors give you the tool to do so (wdc? seagate? hello?).
ibm has a good tool for this that will work on almost any vendors drive.
i used to get 1 frame drop per 15000, now i get 0 frame drops, period.
