Subtitles, and any titles for that matter, are placed on Video 2 above the
other video tracks. If you use the Premiere Titler the titles should overlay
onto your video properly and without problem. I haven't used Premiere 6 in a
while and I don't think you have to select the Transparency on the Video
Option dialog. If you do then select Alpha Channel. Premiere 6 has no
realtime preview capabilities. Once a title is placed on the video it has to
be rendered as either a preview or to a new file for playback. You didn't
really specify what you meant by "video doesn't move"
If you are confused as to how these subtitles should change along with your
video do the following. You can use the * key on the number pad of your
keyboard to mark spots on the timeline. Watch the video and hit the * key
when a sentence starts and then hit it again when the sentence ends. Place
your subtitle title on the proper video track (video 2) and stretch it out
between these marks. Naturally you can fine tune the duration by changing
the timecode increment to a single frame and stretch it or shorten it to
your liking. In order to navigate from the beginning or end of any video,
title, etc. in Premiere select that clip/title/audio/etc. hit the up arrow
key to go to the beginning and the down arrow to go to the end. This allow
you to quickly work with where something begins and ends in your video.
I would suggest you try writing back with a more clear description of what
is actually happening with your project playback, and maybe a little more
information about your system as a whole.
