- TDA 1.6 - DVD Writer not working
- Posted by Terry Pinnell on May 1st, 2008
Ken or any other TDA 1.6 user around please?
I've just transferred TDA (TMPG Enc DVD Author) 1.6 to my new PC. But
I'm sorely disappointed to discover that the integrated DVD Writing
Utility doesn't work with its DVD drive, a Pioneer with Blue-Ray
capability, model PIONEER BD-ROM BDC-202 1.01
It ran sweetly OK on my previous PC, which had an NEC DVD_RW ND-4570A
1.02. Not a happy bunny!
Is there anything I can try, or must I reconcile myself to writing
ISOs with TDA and using some other burning program?
BTW, I assume this is simply a matter of TDA DVD Writer not supporting
this particular model, and nothing to do with the absence of any other
software or drivers that I haven't yet got around to installing?

Time passes by, for software, as well as the rest of us.
Perhaps Sonic Solutions is maintaining/ keeping up to date
this as a plugin with some other software. TMPGEnc isn't
doing much to support TDA 1.6, much less the Writing Tool
plugin from Sonic Solutions.
Luck;

For about $10-15 (US) you could get an SATA/IDE/ATAPI to USB 2.0 connector
and power supply, which would allow you to use the old drive for regular
DVDs. The ISO route would then only be needed to write to Blue-Ray. Here is
one example.

Thanks both. I've emailed TMPGEnc but without any hope. Hadn't know
the DVD Writer was from Sonic Solutions.
I think I'll settle for simply writing the ISO and then burning with
ImgBurn. Installed that and tested that approach OK last night. In
practice probably not much longer - just not so satisfying.
