TV OUT to Video In

Is there any way to change a tv out s-video jack to a video-in,
software or driver wise? My card is a nvidia geforce2 MX/MX 400. I
would really like to record tv shows onto my computer from my Direct
tv {without buying another card [or a converter](to much money)]

Of course you can, its just like plugging an arial into your microwave to
make it a spare TV.

No. Video input and video output are completely different
functions and the hardware must be designed for it.

great time with it. I use the software that comes with the card for
capture and open source TMPEnc ( http://www.tmpgenc.net/ ) to edit
it. I also use a freely distributed VIDEOLan (
http://www.videolan.org/ ) to view the captured images. I think this
gives me better results than the ATI viewing software. To do any
audio editing that may be needed I use product called AUDACITY (
http://audacity.sourceforge.net ). It too is open source and freely
distributed.

I burn a one hour show on a single cd without having to cut it up. If
I record a movie or some other program that lasts over an hour , I
take the original file and brake it up in hour parcles using TMPEnc.
Works great.
