I wrote here recently that I was having trouble authoring a DVD with U-Lead
Movie Factory 3 Disc Creator, specifically, having pixellation in fades up
from black. I have been capturing from tape and letting the program convert
to mpeg2 on the fly, for file-size considerations (4-gig limit) and lack of
hard-drive space.
I think I've solved this problem--in the capture process, I had missed that
there is a setting for frames. I'd left it on "frame based" instead of
"lower field first". Also, of course, capturing in the highest resolution I
have space for on the DVD helps, but the field setting seems to have been
the main problem.
I must mention here, though, that U-Lead's customer service seems to be a
mess. Maybe it's a temporary situation. I can't register my copy because
their on-line registration won't work. I can't get anyone in customer
service to answer my inquiry about not being able to register. And I can't
get any help from tech support until I register. So eventually I just solved
it myself (no thanks to this newsgroup, which would have had me completely
reconfiguring my computer and purchasing a new hard-drive so as to render
mpeg-2's from huge avi files without going to tape, which I'd love to do by
way of being a purist, but which I can't afford right now).
In any case, if anybody out there is having this particular problem, I think
this is the "ticket" on this one.
