Vegas Pro 8 installation problem
Posted by Andy on September 23rd, 2007

I downloaded Vegas Pro 8 trial but when I try to install it a window pops up
telling me to download Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0. When I click the
Download button another message pops up ...Sony MsiSetup... Download Failed.
Please check to make sure you are connected to the internet and try again.
The installation then shuts down.

Any advice appreciated to overcome the situation.

TIA
Andy

If you're running Vista, Framework 3.0 is supposedly already installed.
If not, make sure you're running XP Service Pack 2.
The full install of .NET Framework 3.0 (approx. 50 MB.) is at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

or http://tinyurl.com/y3ojyx if the above link is wrapped.
It's about 1/2 way down the page.
Look under "Intructions" for the "X86 Redist Package".
Install this first and then the trial.
Good luck with it.

Thanks Mike. I'll give it a try.
I'm running XP with SP2

Mike, I keep getting "The page cannot be displayed" when I try either link.
Not sure if my settings are incorrect or the page is down. My internet is
working fine otherwise.

Just tried it on the laptop and it's downloading OK.

Thanks again

Good that you got it going...

While on the subject; does anyone know if you can download all of the
trials separately as independent 30 day time frames?

In other words, I've already downloaded the Vegas Movie Studio 8..
Once my 30 days are over -- can I then run the Platinum version for 30
days or even the Pro after that, etc.?

...Or, once connected to the net during installation -- will I get some
kind of message saying I can only try one version?

I am asking, because, like i said, I only have tried the Movie Studio
trial so far...

I can only tell you that my fiance and I have done a ton of
moviemaking with Vegas in the last 8 months and it's great software.
It is not as user-friendly as more consumerish-level editing software,
but it can do so much more than those programs.

The help section in Vegas is quite good. It can take some time to sift
through to find exactly what you need, but eventually it's time well
spent.

Expect some learning curve with Vegas. Once you get through it, though
you can do some really nice professional editing.

It's worth purchasing outright.

There's no reason why that wouldn't work so just go ahead and try it.
However, Platinum and Pro add more features so, if you're happy with
VMS, why not just buy it? An upgrade path is available so you'll be
loosing little, if any, money if you do decide to go that route.

I am going to buy Movie Studio, but if I can also check out Platinum
also - it would be helpful.

It's a separate program so I see no reason why this wouldn't work.
