VHS pass through Sony DV cam to computer stopped working
Posted by Bert Storm on September 5th, 2003

Until last week I was capturing my analog sources to my HD via my Sony
DV-900 portable DV recoder/player.

Now when I hook up the unit, all I get is a "DV in" from the computer
ability.

I also tried using my VX-2000 and had the same results.

I can record from VHS to a DV tape then capture it from there, but
whenever I plus the DV cable into the deck/camera I can only to a one
way transfer from the PC to the DV (or on toa VHS if I have the cable
hooked up.

I mess around with installinbg new software at times and the only one
I remember installing was Pinnacle Edition 5 before the problem
ocurred. Removing Edition 5 and doing a registry and .dll clean did
not remove any programs that may be blocking the needed function.

Even tried to re-install Premiere 6.5 and it didn't clear up the
problem

Any ideas ehat bit of software is blocking my ability to capture
analog using my DV cam or deck as the intermediary?

Rob.

Check the menu setting

A/V -> DV OUT

and make sure it is ON.

Good luck.

Tod:
Hate to sound lame, but which piece of gear or software are you
refering to? My DV-900 doesn't show this setting and I can't check my
VX-2000 right now because I loaned it to a friend.

Your response mucho appreciated. If I can fix this I can avoid
spending a few hundred $$$ on a canopus AVC 50 or 100
