Can I install MS Home Essentials 97 on an XP machine ?

I have an old Win 95/98 PC which I do not use.
It came with Microsoft Home essentials 97. I have the CD.

Home Essentials 97 includes:
-Word 97
-Works 4.0
-IE
-Microsoft Arcade

My 10 year old son has a PC that does not have any applications like Word etc.
His PC is an XP.

If I install this on my son's PC will I ruin it ?
Will Word work on his PC ?
Is there any way to only install Word ?

Any help would be highly appreciated.
PS i am not technical.

Thanks
Anna

I'm not sure, but I *think* I ran Word 97 on XP until last year, so it
may work. Dunno about any of the other apps, but I suppose MS tests
their own apps before testing the rest of ours.

No harm in trying... just make good backups!
