Hi,

First post here. I hope I have the right place.

I've written a program that collects security descriptors from files and
folders and then stores the SDs so that I can reapply them later. This
works OK... but I was wondering. If I were to reinstall XP, would the
SDs that I have from the old install still work? I guess the best way is
to try this and see. Can anyone provide insight into moving SDs from one
machine to another or from one install to another on the same machine.

I have a lot of complex file system and share permissions... that's why
I've taken the time to backup the SDs. I just want to know if they'll be
useful to me should I reinstall XP.
