- Is a language monitor the ONLY way to retrieve data from a printer ?

Hi
I have started implementing a language monitor for my monolitihic
printerdriver.
This is not as easy as I had hoped it to be, and therefor I can just as well
ask !
Is there really NO other way for the driver to send and receive data
directly to the printer than using a language monitor ?

The language monitor is the recommended approach.
