- Manually copying INF and driver?
- Posted by Adam M on January 3rd, 2008
How can I manually copy my INF and driver files to simulate the normal way
that the Windows GUI loads drivers?
My problem is that I have an XP installation that won't boot (STOP 7B)
because the proper hard disk driver is not installed. This install was just
moved to new hardware with a RAID controller that XP doesn't recognize
without an external driver. I can use F6 when booting from the XP CD to see
the disk contents and use the recovery console, but I am unable to figure out
how to get from there to booting XP normally.
I ask here because I do not understand the driver install process under the
hood well enough.
Thanks!
Adam

This is a developer newsgroup, but the answer is you can't except by
installing the OS again.
