- Ndis IM miniport problem
- Posted by Alex the 1'th on July 30th, 2004
While I was testing a IM driver under the last (4.5.xx) VMware version the
lower miniport is failing to acknowledge the sends (NdisMSendComplete) if I
send more then 1 packet at a time, for about the same volume of packets.
Under 4.0.xx this didn't happened.
Any clues or anyone also so this?

Try to repro on the real hardware, if this will not manifest - then a
VMWare issue (there are some).

On a real hardware it happened about twice to loosed packes, but only a few
(out of a 40 packes pool I noticed about 10 where stacked once), and a reset
should solve this.
On VMware on the other hand once I start to flood test from user mode all
the packes are stacked right away, and, if instead of sending 3-4 packes per
send, I send only 1 at a time it never happenes to loose packes.

Virtual machines are known to be slow and sometimes have minor issues with
hardware emulation (parallel port in MS Virtual PC being the one funny thing).
Nothing surprising.
