- Problem with checked kernel on Windows 2003 Server SP1
- Posted by Tom V S on September 20th, 2005
Hi,
I usually install release OS's then use /KERNEL= /HAL= boot.ini option
to run checked kernel/hal to test my drivers. This worked fine all the
way up to 2003 Server, but it is failing on 2K3 Standard Server with
SP1.
During boot it fails with message
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or
corrupt:
System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the
original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair"
Any idea what is happening out here?
Replaced ntfs.sys with the one from SP1 checked and tried to see it
failing with the same message again.
Thanks,
Tom
