- .REG files versions: any differences?
- Posted by Alex on November 26th, 2003
Hi guys, I know this is not the proper newsgroups for a
registry question, but I know there are some pretty smart
people here with lots of knowledge, maybe someone can help
me out.
I already posted in another newsgroup and got no answer,
please tell me if there is one more appropriate.
My application will do extensive use of .reg files.
Is there ANYTHING at all that the 2k/XP version file
(Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00) can do/has that
the 9x (REGEDIT4) cannot/doesn't have?
What I mean is, if I always use the REGEDIT4 format, for
all plataforms, is there any case it will not work, or
lose data?
Thanks, Alex

Win2K file is UNICODE. Thus, you can use UNICODE names and strings in it
easily.
