serial on parallel emulation
Posted by CadMasterAdam on February 24th, 2005

i have an hp-48g+ calculator that uses a serial connection to enable
pc-hp linking.. (very handy for a lot of stuff) however.
my asus p4p800s boards' COM1 serial port is not funtioning. and i cannot
get it to function.

so this was my solution, i baught a serial - parallel converter.. so now
my hp calculator plugs into the printer port.

however, from what i understand the lpt and com ports have completely
different ways of talking..

my question...

has someone developed a driver or application that will emulate a com
port through a lpt?

thank you..

buy a usb->serial converter. it will come with a driver that exposes a com
port. no such driver really exists to map from LPT to COM.
