- USB IO Optimization with WinXP
- Posted by Ted Herron on August 15th, 2007
I am building an embedded (mini-itx) solution for a USB IO device using WinXp
or CE. Is there a white paper or thread describing how to optimize XP for USB
IO? Also, what are the OS bottle necks for USB IO dependent on? Processor?
Memory? Cache speed? Anything specifically I can turn off on XP Pro to free
up cycles?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated as I tweak this OS to run a dedicated USB IO
device. Thank you

USB isn't usually a bottleneck. You can only pass about 45 MB/s through a
single bus, and that doesn't make a CPU work very hard. What kind of
device is it?
