- WPA Update for Checked Build?
- Posted by Dima Vee on July 15th, 2003
Dear All,
I am looking for a WPA (wireless security) update for the
XP Checked Build. Any pointers?
Dima.

Dima,
Free build drivers are available at http://www.microsoft.com/wifi and KB
815485 (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=815485). Not sure about the
checked build until the next SP, unless they're on the msdn site.
What problem are you trying to resolve?

Dear Bryan,
Thank you for a prompt response!
We are developing drivers for wireless chipsets and use
the Checked build for debugging. Unfortunately, we cannot
find the WPA update for the Checked build.
We successfully use the one posted for Free build, but
are unable to run it under Checked. Do you know, if the
update is supposed to run under Checked? If not, how to
get the one that can?
We are Universal MSDN subscribers, yet I was unable to
find anyhting relevant there.
Thank you in advance! If you prefer, I can contact you
via email.
Sincerely, Dima.

The installer just shows the message box with approx.
following words:
"Cannot update debug(checked) version of Windows with
retail(free) version of WPA"
Installation halts immediately after that message.

Dima,
Sorry I didn't see your response until a colleague pointed it out to me.
Did you get this resolved/worked around? I just sent mail to the program
manager responsible for the WPA package to see how we can help you --
either with a checked-build version of the package or a way to bypass the
version/build checking. Can you post your e-mail address or send me mail
directly w/ your e-mail?
