Microsoft doesn't love kids anymore ? What happens towww.microsoft.com/kids/freestuff/ ?
Posted by penang on January 6th, 2008

Back in 1999, Microsoft set up a wonderful site for kids, at
www.microsoft.com/kids/freestuff/

Lots of stuffs there back then. I introduced my kids to the site, they
had a lot of fun !

Perhaps it was too good to be true.

By 2004, all these came to an abrupt end. Microsoft shut down
everything !

Nowadays, when you go to www.microsoft.com/kids/freestuff/, instead of
meeting with that wonderful Magic School Bus, we got the following:

"We're sorry, but we were unable to service your request. You may wish
to choose from the links below for information about Microsoft
products and services."

and blah... blah... blah...

Kids are not important anymore ? Is Microsoft anti-kids now ?

So your that concerned about it that it took you 3 years to ask where it
went?
Have you contacted Microsoft technical support on the subject?

I did notice the dropping of www.microsoft.com/kids/freestuff/ but my
own kids outgrew the magic school bus stuffs at that time. At that
time I thought it was a glitch, a server crash or whatever.

Just recently I decided to do another search for it, this time for my
sister's kids and I figure they could benefited from it.

To my surprise, it is still down. So I did a search on internet
archive www.archive.org and found out that the site was indeed
terminated.

Contact Microsoft Support Center ? Have you done so recently ?

Looks like Billy doesn't really like kids after all.

Yes, I'm quite sure the site was taken down because he doesn't like kids...
And yes I have contacted MS support recently, do it all the time.

Maybe the focus has advanced to different areas, and it is time to move with
it, like using the Game Advisor (select Age from the drop-down) here:
http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Pages/default.aspx or checking out the
family and age appropriate games here:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/fami...htm?WT.svl=nav

Thanks for both the links you've provided.

If it's a case of "moving on", then I'm sorry, man, Microsoft is
moving in the WRONG DIRECTION.

They have abandoned the little children.

The two links that you've provided share a common theme - GORE and
VIOLENCE.

Mebbe I'm outdated, I dunno. Just that, for me, the magic school bus
is always much, MUCH better for the little toddlers than the gore and
violence stuffs Microsoft is peddling.

Sometimes things change for the better. But in this case, I'm afraid,
things have changed for the worse.
