I've heard of people using adobe illustrator to "render" site plans &
elevations
created in Autocad. I would like to begin experimenting with it. I am new
to illustrator and have tried placing the dwg file but cant seem to figure
out how to "link" the linework to create color fields etc...
anyone out there willing to give a few pointers??
would certainly appreciate any help i can get!!!
thanks in advance
Chris

Render as in 3 dimensions? You'd need a 3d programme for that.

forgive my ignorance, but when you say "set lineweights" you mean in acad?
or set the stroke in AI? secondly, how do you go about "joining" the
linework to create objects that can be filled? or will i color by
(re)creating these in AI?
