Basketball PMS?
Posted by Papa Joe on April 9th, 2007

anyone know the actual pantone of a basketball. I could settle for CMYK
or a textile color.
I'm building a logo and will buy a basketball as a last resort to match
a PMS color.

the client is requesting a true match I bet there's different
basketball colors too
it's for high school tournaments in north america.

Any help or reference web sites appreciated.

Cheers

Just take a Pantone guide to a sporting goods store, or to the high
school and eye it. Or, borrow a Color Cue from someone. I'd love to have
one of those

No, I doubt all basketballs are created equally when it comes to color.

Good luck,

I don't know the PMS of a basketball, but I know the company that
redesigned the last NBA basketball. If you contact them, maybe they
could help. The most recent NBA basketball was designed by Winstanley
Associates in Pittsfield Mass. http://www.winstanley.com/

The owners name is Nate Winstanley. Give them a try.

Orange?

Seriously, follow inez' approach. Keep in mind that yes they do come in
different shades and as they wear they get darker.

Maybe Google for a basketball image then sample it. That should do it.
