CALL FOR ENTRIES
re|THINK our environment in the Carolinas

What: environmental poster show open to all
Submission Deadline: February 1, 2008
Website: www.rethinkposters.com

---------------

Believe. Conceive. Create.

www.rethinkposters.com

Believe that our natural environment is in peril, but there is hope.
Believe we, as creative professionals, are empowered to make a
difference through design. Believe that small, local changes are the
first and most powerful step toward sustainability.

Conceive an idea for a poster that promotes a direct, sustainable
intervention that Carolinians can undertake to preserve the
environment. Design a poster that communicates a sustainable practice
or idea for use in everyday life. No idea is too small or too large.
Cover any topic in the gamut of sustainable practices, from compact
fluorescent light bulbs to wind-powered energy. Find an idea that
speaks to you, describe it, and promote it through your poster design.

Create a digital poster design that inspires Carolinians to care about
and protect the environment by making sustainable decisions in their
everyday lives.

Encourage your colleagues to believe, conceive, and re|THINK by
creating a poster.
Submit designs by February 1, 2008. Information at www.rethinkposters.com

Selected works will be printed and exhibited in Raleigh, Charlotte and
South Carolina during April 2008, including a show at Designbox
Gallery in Raleigh, NC. Attend the Designbox exhibition reception on
April 4, 2008, to share, learn, and re|THINK.

We don't have enough problems with 'contest' as it is (see
http://www.no-spec.com/articles/design-contests/) but we now have the AIGA
doing a good job of convincing the market that contest are the way to go.

Not long back I read where one or more parts of the AIGA thought the Fossil
Contest (see http://www.no-spec.com/archives/fossil-design-contest/) was
'cool'.

Pogo had it right 'We have met the enemy and they is us'

Not buy or order posters? Saves ink and paper.

That contest sucks, when I make something it is mine.
They can have it when they pay or I give it away.
Entering and then automatically it becomes their property?
Fuck em.
That is not even spec work, that is plain highway robbery.
