Coming to a city near you... Street View!

I love google.

Im just taking a crack at this, my guess is that they drove around
shooting with a 360 degree lens, that was tied in with a gps unit,
which took a shot every so many feet. My original thought was that
they shot with a video camera and synched the GPS with the timecode,
and extracted the segments they needed. But I figure that would be a
little excessive...

They just keep raising the bar...

I was playing with this last night. Rather fab isn't it!? I had a look
around NYC, which I know pretty well, and it brought back a lot of
fond memories!

With such a big budget they have for such a project you'd think they
could afford a decent actor.

Go figure.

hahah.. yah, all of their videos are like that. They are pretty funny.
I believe they use actual Google employees. There is a google base
here in Pittsburgh, I was talking to one of the guys that was doing
some work for them. He said there was so much fun stuff there. They
had an open kitchen, shiatsu massaging chairs, nerf guns and all kinds
of other toys. lol. I guess when they were delivering everything, all
of the people in other office buildings were looking over like...
"what the hell! why cant I work there?"

Looking at Street View closer... I believe they did use a video
camera, on a 360 degree rig... the segments are so close together... I
guess they could have used a rapid fire camera as well.

Noticed a 'strange' car passing our street (Antwerpen - Belgium)
yesterday. It had a construction on the roof, with an aprox. 75 cm
high camera box on each corner, each pointed to a different corner,
and a huge GPS antenna in the middle.

Got no idea if this has to do with google street-view, but it might.
Anyhow, I can imagine they used a similar device. The same car was
spotted by other people on different other places in town. It just
seems to pass all streets making 4 angle pics with GPS locations.

Once i see our street on street-view, and I notice myself walking the
dog, I will be shure....

Id say that would have to be it... Id think it would be too much of a
coincidence for something like that to happen in tandem with the other
street view launches.

lol... I was telling my friends... what you have to do is once you get
wind of the google streetmobile coming into town, buy up every
billboard, every ad in the city. should give you about 5 years of
additional advertising id think. Set out walking billboards, traveling
ads... lol, and follow the little google car.
