Comments, please

I ask you experts this with some trepidation, because I'm a complete
amateur. But on my personal site (which I'm still developing) I've tried to
give some help to other amateurs who, like me, work for small churches,
charities and voluntary organisations, and have virtually no budget for
publicity and communication.
The printing tends to be inkjet and either photocopying or scanprinting for
in house material and much simple information, and only occasional use of an
outside printer, The software used is budget stuff, and I find that people
both have no idea how to use the software, and no idea about what makes
something look good.
As a starter I've put up some basic pages of advice on type, and what I'd
really appreciate is some comments on whether I've made some horrendous
mistakes of fact. I'd also appreciate comments on whether I've made in your
view(s), errors of taste, but it's the factual stuff I'm particularly
concerned about.
If you have the time to help, the pages start at

TIA

Hi Doug,

Had a look and it all makes sense to me...

...one critism though - I know it's all about words but do there have to be
so many? It really is a long read.

Another useful "trick" you might like to research and let your viewers know
about is to do with round letters. I'm not sure what it might be called but
for instance if you were to cut letters out for a sign the "C's" and "O's"
....etc must be slightly larger than the straighter lined text otherwise they
look too small. Next time you're out and about have a look at a few signs
and you'll see what I mean - especially if they got it wrong!

Cheers and good luck with the site!

people seem to make the stuff take up whole books!
Interesting about the signs, I'd never noticed that before. Does that apply
only to uppercase? And how much does it depend on the typeface?

I've just seen it a few times...

...you'll spot it!

I'm sure there is an exact science but in my 20 yrs I've not heard of it
only seen it and been shown it.

Good Luck
