- Content Management Software for a Design Portfolio?
- Posted by Brandons of mass destruction on October 30th, 2003
I'm looking to a more dynamic site for my portfolio and was wondering if
it was possible to effectively use some content management software or
database to do it?
ideally, i like to be upload jpegs of porfolio pieces, with commentary
about the piece and perhaps a link to the high rez pdf for download.
doing it manually for each page would be a pain, so i'm wondering if
anyone can recommend a database like solution, which will allow me lets
of flexibility with css design on the front end while enabling easy
updating of the site via a backend? being able to use flash on the front
end would be real nice too.
Any thoughts?

I'm currently finishing off a content management script done in PHP/mySQL
that will let you do pretty much exactly what you're asking.
I'll be finished a good part of it by Saturday if you want to test it out.

Sure, no problem. Count me in!
But essentially I would have to build something in PHP/mySQL? There's no
off the shelf solution, be it commerical or open source?

we have one, our basic news solution would work for what you're doing, you
can also categorise the pirces by print, web etc...
the system is active on www.smh.ltd.uk (news, jobs, case studies) and loads
of our customers sites
costs £500 without hosting or customisation and uses asp and access
