- Creating a high quality for client to update and use in Word
- Posted by Brandons of Mass Distraction on June 14th, 2007
Ok, I've got a client that wants a logo.
They would like to be able to use this logo in Word, so they can place
in stationary that they'll make up themselves and then print out on
inkjet or laserprinter. They would also like to be able update the year
in the logo, as it's an annual event. The logo itself will just be type,
nothing real fancy.
What's the best way to create this, that'll fit all the clients needs?
Usually, I'd just use Illustrater, since it does Vectors so well, but
can word even read and output and eps to inkjet? And that won't allow
the client to change the date, since they don't have illustrater.
The client only has the Office Suite.

Create the logo in two parts: the main part, drawn in Illustrator and the
year, typed on top of the logo in Word. Of course this means that you
cannot provide a graphics file only, but a fully assembled Word document.
You can save the EPS either with a WMF or high-resolution TIFF preview,
after which it will print on anything. Or you can (depending on the logo
design) export the logo from Illustator as EMF or WMF ja use that in Word
instead of an EPS (there is no law that says that you have to create only
EPS with Illustrator!).
