I've heard iStockPhoto.com is the best place to purchase stock photos
(if you're on a budget as I am). Evidently the prices are 3-4X less
than other stock photo houses.

I'm wondering if there is anything similar for stock illustrations?
(yep, illustrations - not clip "art" [try clip "crap"...]

Good illustrations. Maybe there's no such place to find high-quality
stock illustrations.

Also wondering if there are any good, inexpensive. royalty-free CD/DVD
sets of high-quality stock photos. I think iStockPhoto.com is great,
but it would be nice to purchase a good, basic collection of stock
photos to have at the ready (e.g. for presentations, etc), then in-fill
by purchasing on a per-photo basis at iStockPhoto.com - I've heard
other stock photo houses force you to purchase a subscription - no will
do. Homey don't play that.
