how/where do I learn what colors look good with other colors?
Posted by NotGiven on August 18th, 2004

I've been programming web sites for years but recently, I have an interest
in the graphical part as well.

I use fireworks and can slice the pic up for web graphics and html.

What I don't know is once I choose a main color, how do I find, or learn how
to find, colors that look good with it?

I know trial & error is one option but it has not worked well for me and I
suspect there is some method to choosing accompanying colors.

Thanks for links to articles or actual explanations!

Read this book:
Color Choices, ( Making color sense out of color theory )
By Stephen Quiller
ISBN: 0-8230-0697-2

If you don't understand color relationships after reading this book
you never will.

No, you're quite right. I probably shouldn't have responded the way I
did, or at all. Lately, however, I've gotten quite tired of the
complete bastardization of the English language by young punks that,
due to complete laziness, refuse to even attempt to write correctly.

I'm not talking about occassional misspellings (I admit to being a
terrible speller) or typos, or people for who English is not their
first language. I'm talking about the deliberate misspelling of words,
lack of puncuation, and lack of use of capital letters that I so often
read, especially on Usenet.

I guess I've officially shown my colors as a "Cranky Old Fart".
