If you took 1 year off...
Posted by Brian Mays on March 31st, 2006

Spurred by an older article I was reading in CA Magazine.

If you took 1 year off from client work (paid or otherwise) what would
you do?

For the sake of argument, let's say finances are not going to be an
issue here. Let's also say we're not going to accept pro
bono/non-profit work either.

I think I might work toward doing the big cartoon epic I've always
wanted to do. :-)

I would do much more art / photography related things for my gallery and
other galleries!

That and spend loads of time with our future baby ;o)

Future baby? If that event is eminent I would expect you would be spending
100% of the current time with the future rug rat.

Do that whether you have the year off or not. It is rare time and you will
value it forever.

Congratulations Helen!
Remember the way things are now, because life will _never_ be the same again
after the baby is born. It will feel like you were a different person living
a different life before the baby was around, and in a sense, you were.

There are very few days in your life that you will always remember with
perfect clarity as if it happened yesterday, and the day your firstborn
arrived is one of them. One of the others is the day your first grandchild
arrived. )

Nothing like the Real Thing (TM) I'm a grand parent (one the natural way 2
by way of adoption). Being a parent is wonderful but nothing anywhere near
as good as being a grand parent.

Thank you!

I'm sure this will be the case - although at my age - I am *sooooo* ready to
have this change in my life. I am really happy with what I have done with my
life to this point and now I want to share my time being a mum!

Thanks Jeff!

Thank you, thank you!

Uh-oh!

Yeah - well, after October-ish I'm expecting less sleep and getting
accustomed to the smell of poo... But at least hubby and I will be going
away to Samoa before all of this taking place... (phew!)

The poo of breast fed babies does not smell (much)

You were not clear (to me) that the kid was on the way or just in the
planning stages.

If the kid is 'on the way' I would assume you are with the child in the
biblical way you are spending 100% of the time at this juncture.
