- Job Interview
- Posted by amgine on May 11th, 2007
Had it today. It went well I think. I'll let you all know how it went next
week.
I didn't get the other job of course, but then I didn't really want it [they
always say that don't they?] It was useful interview experience and broke me
in nicely for "the big one" today.
I might even find the time to do a bit more 14 days stuff. Yeah, I know,
it's all over, bar the shouting but then I never did take much heed of
ridiculous self-imposed deadlines.
So far I only managed two/three days out of the 14 and then it all went
pear-shaped with Cheshire, Wimpy and Domino's all begging for graphics work
at once. And all that good weather the other week took me out into the
garden - which is looking lovely even in the rain right now.

Best of luck. I hope all works out for you
And, as anybody whose followed 14 days in the past knows, its not about
deadlines. Its about an opportunity to express yourself, try things you
might not in other environments, share ideas with friends. I don't think
the deadlines have ever counted in this exercise. Keep posting.
I liked the second one especially. I generally like to see the use of
type in imaging whenit is done well. I'd like to see slightly larger
versions of the work, if possible, however.

Here's to that all working in your favor!
I was at your site and you were curious about a topographic site that
can do what Google Earth does, except topo. Try here:
http://www.topozone.com/ I use this all the time with my camping/fishing.

The job is a tailor fit for me. I'd love to have a go at it, it would get me
out of the house and back into a workplace setting [unfortunately not
strictly speaking a studio setting], and it's a position that has scope for
improvement, so all round it would be beneficial. It would be pleasant to
have some regular money coming in for a change too.
Thanks for that. It doesn't seem to cover England though. The live local and
google earth mapping service is free and global. And it gives me a close
enough fixing for surveys for this kind of thing. I'd like contour lines to
be shown for accurate levels - that would be useful.
The garden in the plan is sloped at one end and levels out over the garden
railway end [fortunately] so I'd like to be able to show that with accurate
levels. Fortunately in this case I can get out there and take a levels
survey if I really have to.

Thanks.
You mean you want to see more definition? How much larger [in dpi and image
size]? When you click on each of the smaller lo res thumbnails you should
get to something I thought would be good enough to fit on a screen and show
enough detail. Would you like the linked images to be of high res.
downloadable proportions? Is it that you want to appreciate the texture of
the paper?

amgine wrote:
Yeah, the texture and a little more of the technique. I understand why
you don't put a real high res version up but when I look at artwork in
more traditional media, not digital, I like to get a sense of the
medium. Texture is a good word, in that I feel that so much of
traditional media relies on it, brush stroke in paintings, line in
drawing. I'm always walking up to artwork in galleries and museums and
examining detail.
I know, that's just me, and not a criticism of the work in any way. Most
people don't care.

Well they phoned to let me know I'm through to the second interview. I'm
really pleased of course and the second interview will be in the form of a
brief to see how I work on a project. I'm looking forward to finding out
what they ask me to do. If I understand them correctly once I receive the
written brief I'll have until the end of the month to come up with something
worth looking at, which is simply ages isn't it?
I'll let you know how I get on with that.
