- Logo opinions requested (again)
- Posted by Edward Wedig on October 24th, 2003
Well, I finally had some time this week to rework several of the logos I
put up for review a while back. Thank you to everyone who responded to
my earlier post.
The revised logos are at:

I'm partial to 2b-a, but I like all three of them, and I could see using
any of them. What does everyone else think?

Well, based upon your design skills and the choices you have made with your
own logo...I would suggest that you go back to school.

Those are all pretty bad, Ed. Logo design isn't your thing.

I don't like one of them, and I can Tell you why...
3a and 3a-a: the first one tries to conclude to much information. Your
Web Adress must not be in a Logo. The Second one is too loud, to cheap.
1b and 1b-a The first one is the best of all, but the E is to heavy and
the dots look a little bit childish. The second one doesn't match the
basic rules for Logo Design. It must work in black and white and it
should be recongnisable if you send it throug a Fax.
2b and 2b-a: The Dot thing doesn't work. To much chaos for a logo.
the second one would again not survive a Faxmashine...
Gruß,
Niels

All are too busy and none convey anything meaningful to me. If you
chopped the bottom black rectangle off of 1b and used that by itself,
it would better than everything else you've got there.
I'm not trying to be harsh. Logo design is really difficult for me
too.

If you decide to go back to school, just don't go where Mike attended! O wait,
I am sure he is self taught!

Hi Edward,
I guess most people can see where you want to go with those logo
designs, and in fact I have seen similar logos before (like, the
University of Arts in Berlin has a logo remotely similar to yours
(www.udk-berlin.de)). But I think it's a bit... technical. It doesn't
really put me in awe. Of course your name just screams to be used in
such a fashion, but why not try something more... illustrative? Like,
say, a box, in 3D, so you see 3 sides of it, where the E and the W make
up two sides - something like that? Or both letters in 3D, seen from an
interesting perspective? That would work great with your "computer
rendering" idea, as well.
