Well, we're finally taking the plunge. In a few months, Perpetua
Interactive will be officially phased out, and Springboard Design Group
will be born. Lenny Terenzi and I are partnering up and starting the biz
in September, and we're hoping to get some feedback on a potential logo
we've got brewing...

We're still very much in the planning phases, and we've gone through a
few other directions so far, but we keep coming back to this direction,
and we'd love some feedback from you guys. Any and all comments are
welcome...
Here's a potential card design, justt to give you a glimpse as to the
application of the logo and the corporate id...

Thanks,

nice... the "design group" looks out of align? (especially on black) and the
biz card doesnt use the circle... why not use part of this on the back of
the card.. i also think the ghosted text looks messy

First, I wanted to congratulate you on your partnership! Good luck with your
new venture.
I like your logo, love the feet! Don't like the small s and how it connects
to the p in springboard. Is it supposed to be like a pool ladder? Is it an
ear? Like the name springboard. You dive right into projects.
Seems like you could us an uppercase S that would connect to the p?
Not sure if I like the color scheme. Doesn't make me think of a springboard.
Blue might.
You're definitely off to a good start.

The black logo at bottom is very neat - but the letters are soemwhat
cramped. I like the ligature on the "s".

This is fantastic news! Congratulations to you both and may you enjoy a long
and successful partnership.
sidebar: congrats to you, Ben, for your mention in Jeff's book.
Love the concept and the feet. perhaps, Consider an upper case S and/or shift
mark's placement to above the 'oar' in board or right of it ala bc. The feet
are moving my eye up and away from your name as it is now.
I like the circle but it feels heavy next to the somewhat delicate type. Maybe
lose the outer ring? reverse it? let the ankle bleed out? note: I really like
the open look of the mark on the bc. alot. Bc is gorgeous, btw, colors layout
everything.
Have you tried slicing it [the circle] off at the angle of the feet across the
bottom for the bouncing board effect?
You have a really great concept and mark. These comments are only my opinion.
Design would certainly fly the way it is.
Good luck and thanks for all of your great advice in the past.

I want to draw chalk lines around those feet....it looks like a good opening
panel for a "Dan Turner, Hollywood Detective" adventure. "Any witnesses?"
I like the card design better than the logo design.
Much success with the new biz, Ben!

nice graphic. colours a bit out dated.....but
my biggest concern is why the s and p are joined?

The S and P being joined is a ligature that comes with the expert
version of the typeface. The idea was to a) stylize the type into more
of a graphic "mark" and b) to suggest a spring-like tension within the
logotype itself.
That was the goal, at least... =)

I was a tad worried about other connotations the feet may draw up, but I
think it might be minimal in the long run, and once we use the concept
in context, the occurence of negative connotations will be reduced even
further...
It might also be because the graphic representation of the feet is
purposely "chunky", which may make it more of a "pulp" novel type
image... maybe... We're trying to get a nice balance of both Lenny and
my styles in this one visual...
Thanks for the comments, Dan.

Hey Gemma!
What's this about Jeff's book? Is it the one Jeff Fisher's writing?
Lord, I sent stuff to him ages ago... turns out some of it ended up in
his book? Sweet... I'll have to check in with him to get the skinny...
Thanks for the comments, my dear. Hope you're doing well... We'll keep
you posted on the progress as we get closer to opening the doors in
September...

For some reason, I'm having the toughest time getting a good kern
between a couple of these letter pairs. usually, I've got a halfway
decent eye for letterspacing, but this things giving me headaches...
I'll keep at it and see if I can tweak it to perfection sometime soon here.
Thanks for the input (even the cultural symbolism... although I don't
think we'll be doing too many direct mail campaigns to Tikrit anytime
soon.

typreface is nice.

Great news, and good luck!
My first impression was (between reading your post to seeing the concept)
that the name was a bit clumsy and hard to digest. Once looking at your
ideas though the scepticism went away. Nicly done and I can see the effort
you hav put behind the concept (and I really like it) - but one thing "falls
out" of the otherwards high standard. The connection of the s and the p.
However present in a font of not the outcome is what matters, not the rules
of the font. IMO that part need work, and I'm not conviced there should be a
connection at all.
About the feet - I am with Doormouse on this one. Even if I liked your
concept very much the arab community could be offended by it. From what I
understand it is the soles of the feet that is offending - perhaps you could
"jump into another direction"?
If it was my design I would have left the feet soles behind and taken
another grasp at the design.
