looks ok but lacks direction - where do you want people to go to? and
without knowing the text im not sure that a visitor will instantly know what
the sites about. The text looks plopped on and needs designing.

Hi Mark,

Do you mean I have to put an annnouncement area in the homepage? For
example, using hyperlinks and images for company services, website
features, upcoming events and informations?
Keep in mind that it's my personal website and I haven't such kind of
informations for the clients.

I can only think about an announcement area in the homepage for the
portfolio section *projects* despite it contains not so many projects :-(

IMHO there are many professional website that aren't immediately clear to
the audience, especially in the communication area. I know it seems a
paradox.

Take the Sapient.com website for example. Could you tell me *supposing you
know nothing about them* what they do, in which kind of business they are
involved? Or like me, do you have to read the text before? I think many
website are using very generic images and they convey all the same mood
despite they are running completely different business.

I would like to know your opinion and I will take it seriously into account
for the future. I consider you a very talented designer and I like a lot
your work. You do very professional websites.

cheers :-)

Thank you Mirry. I'm glad you like it.

My problem is that it seems to communicate nothing :-(
It's really hard to tell the visitors who you are and what you do, using
only visual communication.

Anyway, despite the difficulties, I'm now more inclined to watch at other
websites with criticism and looking at my own works in the same way.
Maybe I will use a design solution that needs more improvement. I will do
all I can to improve it along the way. Now I need to put my definitive site
over the web.

cheers :-)

Hi Davide!

How about a subtle flash bit with one drab moth fluttering around your
nucleus logo [not in the header but in the right margin space]and
transforming into a colorful butterfly? Use the same red header color in the
butterfly wings along with same analogous colors.
Short and sweet movie bit to show the transition of client input to your
design vision.

I believe all designers have this problem. You do design. Design is
everything and everything is design. So here you go: a lot of metaphors,
and I take your butterfly as a nice one (it's light, it's sunny, it's
floating, it's related to summer and freedom). The only thing that does
not visually communicate to me are those round UFO's. I thought they are
a sort of heart implants some medical stuff.. What is it?
Otherwise: I like the cool- ('cool' red and grey-header) warm-
(butterflies, wave shaped lines) contrast on the site. This conotes to
the technical aspect of webdesign (the cold internet) to the warm aspect
of webdesign (it's done by people for people).

tell me if I understood it all wrong :-)

cheers

Just some slubs (graphical buttons) that direct people into relevant areas
without having to use the nav or read the text - these also work by
hilighting what you do if its a web design site add "web design" "logo
design" and "free quote" as big graphical buttons - look at how domain name
companies pull you in by displaying prices e.g. www.123reg.co.uk

If youre leaving announcements then think about only anouncing things that
are relevant like a new big name client - other studd foesnt work.

You'll find that ALL professional websites are blatant, especially if its a
no-brand business (such as yours and mine - i mean that businesses are
unlikeley to typein www.ourcompanyname.com because they know it e.g. Coke -
because youre not a well know brand theres no point in being obscure or
high-brow in your approch, be blatent shout your services!

because theyre a brand! people needing sapient style products KNOW to type
in sapient.com (they wouldnt use google) and know that theyll provide what
they want

thanks for the praise my ego needs feeding from time to time.
