- Paying for search engine placement?
- Posted by Lenny Terenzi on July 9th, 2003
Hi All -
Is it really worth it to pay for search engine placement? With the
right META tags is it really necessary? I am doing several web
proposals for clients and I am trying to figure out if I should put
placement fees in as optional expenses.
Thanks
Lenny

Meta tags are almost worthless for search engines these days. Search Engine
Optimization can be useful if it's tied into an overall marketing program and
is concerned with turning visits into sales.
A lot of companies will say they do SEO and promise top placement on two or
three keywords, but the keywords will be totally irrelevant to the site. It's
close to being a scam.
Keywords in text is what search engines are looking for. If you can find a good
SEO company that will help with that, it will be worth it.

the key is a good title tag that uses actual keyphrases
then properly format the site using h1 tags etc and use keywords in links as
alt tags or linking text
