Semantics: Internet

Does the word 'internet' or "Internet" resonate with you -- graphic
designers or do you feel excluded from that word? Is there a better word,
such as 'digital' that makes more sense?

I don't want to go into detail as to why I'm asking this seemingly innocuous
question.

Thank you.

Not really. The internet is a vast universe of different protocalls. I work
with the World Wide Web.

No more than car, hammer, pen, or any other thing.

To make the connection between Internet and Digital being the same thing is
a stretch.

Graphic designers do not only work with the internet, and some do not work
on internet related things at all.

Please go to more details ... your question is not very clear.

I don't really understand the question.

Okay, (hypothetical scenario) say you are responding to an ad for Graphic
Designers and it mentions that you must be familiar with the Internet.
Would that be something appealing to you or would you say, "what does the
Internet have to do with graphic design?"

I hope that helps a bit.

It would be neither appealing nor confusing.

I would think, what Graphic Designer wouldn't be familiar with the internet
and the people placing the ad must be primitive.

That would be my reaction too. 50% of the population here in the UK have
day to day access to the Net. That's hell of a lot of people. I'm sure
practically everyone under the age of 70 has probably used it at some point.

I'll third Limey's comments. And it depends on what type of graphic
designer you are.

(snip)

Indeed but does the Internet have anything to do with a graphic designer?
I'm starting to think that it can and it can not -- that it depends on the
type of graphic designer. :-)

What I take is that your "Graphic Design" creations and productions will
be displayed and transmitted on the "Internet", so you are required to
have skills to make this process as efficient as possible.
