Site crit for business web site please

Hi,

Tell me what you think of www.retroweb.net:

- does it make you want to buy the hosting there?
- if not, why not?
- what's missing that could make the site better?

Apart from some more features included in the hosting packages, I'll be
adding a live support feature (like PHPLive) and a demo of the control panel
included in all the accounts.

I'm on the verge of redesigning this so any comments would be really
helpful.

Many thanks,
Matt

OK, the site is nice, these are my remarks:
- The retro concept might not be what people expect from a web hosting
company (I would prefer buying on a "tecky" kind of website)
- Hide all of your email addresses or you're going to get loads of spam in
your mail box
- Put the Euro symbol as well as you put the dollar and pound in the
drop-down menu
Colors and design are nice.
David.

I understand what you mean; I'm trying to find to find a good compromise
Personally, I was getting sick of seeing web hosts using silver/chrome
templates for their sites - RetroWeb is intended to be different and fresh.
I think I may do a redesign which is slightly more techy/corporate but at
the same time minimalist and personal.

That's a good point, I might replace them with email forms, although I
haven't had any spam directed towards those addresses yet, only spam
directed towards other non-existented mailboxes at the domain.

I would, but AFAIK support for the symbol is a grey area... not all fonts
have the symbol, nor do all systems support it. I've seen 'EUR' used often
instead of the Euro sign, so I figured that was the best solution.

Thanks!

That's right webhosting companies look“pretty much the same, but I think
this is because I think this is what customers expect - it's all a matter of
money. Offering the customer what he wants and receiving his money.

Regarding spam, make sure there is *NO* email address in the *SOURCE CODE*
Good luck!
David.

Matt, try entering € in your source code - this should display the euro
symbol in all browsers.

I liked it. Would have liked to have seen some rollovers in the nav and
being a non techy you might want to label the icons on the bottom. I had

Hi Matt,

I like the web site - and the lava rocket lamp... But the name
puzzles me! Why RetroWeb? I guess most users who are looking for a
hosting provider don't look for anything retro. But the web site itself
is very appealing, very clean, straight forward, nice!
