Would like to Share office space in Birmingham (UK) with NewMedia professionals
Posted by nospam on April 12th, 2005

Hi everyone

This message seems to be in the wrong newsgroup, but there are no newsgroups
I know where it would fit perfectly, and since I make an appeal to
Designers, web developers/designers, copywriters,
marketing/advertising/branding consultants or any profession related closely
to web development it's seems to be a good place.

Like many homebase web designer I suffer from a lack of motivation and great
boredom.

I believe that adding discipline to my daily life and meeting like minded
people would improve my (and that of those who are in the same boat and
would like to join me) state of mind.

I come from London where I have worked for the over 15 years (8 of which as
a web designer/developer). Since I arrived in Birmingham I have somewhat
unsuccessfully attempted to 'work for myself' rather than freelancing or
getting a full time job. I, like many others have dreamed of being able to
work from home and not having to answer to anyone but the client. But I
realise that I miss dearly the buzz of arriving at the office in the
morning, greeting and be greeted with the cup of coffee in my hand from
Nero, Starbucks or Costa... I miss the exchange of conversation, the gossip.

So as to get the best of both worlds ie. No boss (except the client), and
the motivation that comes from working with like minded professionals, I
have been thinking renting an office in Birmingham, Edgbaston or Harborne.
The cost doesn't seem to be prohibitif.

I was wondering if any of you guys are in the same predicament and would
like to consider sharing the space (and the renting cost) with me.

Ideally I would like to share with people who share the same interest in web
development (design, HTML CSS programming, Flash design, Flash ActionScript
programming, e-commerce development etc.)

There will be no obligation for anyone to share contracts with anyone else.
Of course this is a possibility, and although it is desirable it will not be
a prerequisite.

So would you like to let me know if you are interested.

If you are, please let me know, and as I have time on my hand, I will do
some more research on the subject. That means finding a location and see if
the office can accommodate more than one person, verify security, whether
broad band is installed, toilet facility, access, parking etc

Initially, and to avoid spamming, please answer to this newsgroup.

Thanks in advance

William

Rent a loft and sublet to other people that you choose.

Does not have to be an office building. There are lofts for rent in most
cities, there are even some here in Los Angeles. Problems come with people
though, as with any relationship there are tradeoffs.
