HP iPAQ 5550 and Bluetooth
Posted by Arto V. Viitanen on September 16th, 2003

I bought MSI Bluetooth USB dongle, so I could set up my 5550 use Internet
connection of my PC. I could set up the file transfer service to my PC
(Windows XP). Then I tried to internet connection, but it failed. I set the
"allow other users to use internet connection" to my ethernet card. When I
tried to use Explorer, it claimed that it tries to dial up to BT null modem
and had the connection. But, it did not find any websites, like there is no
nameservice available or something.

Funny thing is, I went to my brother with my iPAQ on weekend. He has also MSI
Bluetooth USB dongle, and we could set up the internet connection on his
PC. It also has Windows XP. Only difference is ISP and net cards (or actually
both of us has netchips on the motherboard) used. Since we set the connection
by several try and error steps, I don't know what was needed to set up the
connection.

So, is there any step by step FAQ on setting internet connection to iPAQ or
Pocket PC 2003 using Bluetooth (and MSI dongle)?
