What is the startup time for linux on a PDA? Is it as bad as on a computer?

30 seconds? Arnold just said his Zaurus takes a tenth of a second!

I haven't timed it, but it is definitely slower than a Palm.

Of course, when do you ever turn a PDA off? Normally, you suspend it.
And in both cases (Palm and Zaurus), they come on pretty much instantly.

now. I was presuming that during normal usage this is the time that is

Mine takes longer. I assume this is because I almost always
have a CF and SD cards in for their extra storage; but even
with getting past the password screenlock I can start work
in under 10 seconds. It's slower if I've swapped CF cards
(e.g. to/from a network card) as well; but only marginally.
It always _seems_ to take an age, though.
