I had this problem whith my Ipaq.

Try letting the battey run flat (to the point that it won't turn on). Then
whilst it's turned off, connect the charging socket (disconnect it from the
cradle and plug it in direct). Once you've plugged it in, use the stylus to
reset the machine and leave it overnight. Hopefully it should be OK!
