Toshiba e740

I have a e740 and the battery does not seem to last very long.

It runs down even when the machine is switched off, is this correct?

Can anyone give me a rough idea how long is the normal length of time this
should last.

The power button really just puts the computer in suspend mode. Low
power, but not no power.

I hope someone who has experience with the e740 chimes in. I deal with
some Windows CE computers that can hold a charge for 1-2 weeks. I know
at least model one that can hold its charge only 1-2 days. In both
cases, the computer is sitting unused. I think Windows CE devices with
built-in networking (e.g. 802.11) are more likely to drain batteries
quickly.

It's very hard to say how long a battery lasts as it is dependent on many
factors. The e740 has built-in wireless which drains the battery faster.
You could try to switch off the wireless, whenever you are not using that
function, The switch for wireless is located on the bottom right next to
the battery switch (p.s. do not switch the battery to off as that will
erase all data in memory.)
