I am trying to run the XP Home system recovery on a Compaq Presario
6000, with the 5-cd recovery kit that came with it, and the (...)
computer won't accept the second cd, saying it is not the right one. I
think the cd may be scratched, but can't really see one, so am open for
ideas. Thanks in advance!

You need to contact Compaq/HP and order new Recovery CDs.
