Dumb question... I am getting the following error message, starting right
after I boot (WinXPProw/SP2 and all patches), increasing in frequency, then,
usually ending up with a BSOD of 7A:

My drives consist of 3 SCSI 36 GB in RAID-0 on an Adaptec controller card as
C: and a 200 GB IDE on IDE Channel 0 as Drive D:

While, at first glance, you'd think the error is referring to Drive D:, I
cannot find the exact name, \Device\Harddisk2\D, listed anywhere in Device
Manager, System Information, so...am not sure WHICH drive is giving the
problem.

I've reseated everything that's removable, and, changed the SCSI and IDE
cables, but, still get the message.

Any ideas?

It would have to be D: disk,a RAID configuration is present in windows as
one drive,thier not broken up individually.If its suspect,download the mfgs
MS-DOS hd checker to a MS-DOS formatted floppy,boot to the floppy,run the
tester.If you think its a SCSI drive,maxtors tester requires each RAID drive
be tested individually,not in RAID,at least for the SATA hds.

Your raid would be seen as a single disk, would expect it to show as
hardisk0, and D as harddisk1.
The manu hd checking utility may not be able to 'see' the disks on the
Adaptec card - it would'nt on mine

There was a recent (last 7 days) MS ng post on an identical problem, afraid
I cannot remember group or resolution

I agree, my C: drive, which is really 3 drives, shows in Windows as one, and
as drive 1, as, the controller "hides" the physical drives. Also, my D:
drive, the single IDE one, shows up as drive 0. I suspect the numbering
comes from the IDE controller being built-in, getting a lower number, while
the SCSI card gets higher numbers. But, NOWHERE do I show a drive 2.

When I plug in a USB thumb drive, it's usually a drive 3, though...so...must
have a drive 2, somewheres...

I found the problem...had to turn off DEP in
Boot.ini.../NoExecute=AlwaysOff. Saw this in an old post, and...it seems to
work.

message about this, did it, and, no more errors.
