Dim backlight only in XP?
Posted by Noozer on January 6th, 2008

I have a Gateway T-6815 laptop. I've just formatted the machine and
installed Windows XP Pro SP2.

I had no problem locating drivers for this laptop and installing them, but
for some reason, the Intel 965 driver turns the laptop backlight almost
completely off. The laptop is not usable this way.

I've tried making power saver adjustments in the Windows control panel. Also
made changes in the Intel control panel... No change.

Does anyone have any idea how to work around this?

As intel says, once the OS is installed, run the intel chipset installation
utility
for youre board, then install drivers..Also,once thru, install the latest
Direct X
download, once all is thru,if problems exist,go to run, typeXDIAG Run the
Direct X tests....

You admitted yourself this IS a hardware problem, in the HARDWARE newsgroup,
so how does it not relate to the group subject? If it was software, which
you state would be on topic, then it would NOT belong here.

That Vista is MUCH better than XP and that I shouldn't want to install XP.

Are you trying to tell us that Gateway didn't supply the drivers for
that operating system to be used on that computer?

Because it has NOTHING to do with the OS. Look at the title and

Just ignore the stupid self appointed usenet nazi pillock. He has never
contributed anything remotely useful to any topic on this (and related)
newsgroups. He has delusions that he is the administrator of these groups
(he isn't).

Of course if he had taken the trouble to read the OP he might have
discovered that this was a problem that resulted because the OP
installed -->> WINDOWS XP <<--, at least in the OP's view.

Do yourself a favour and add him to your killfile because he really is of
NoConsequence. What is needed is a killfile system that suppresses replies
to killfiled users.
