DVDR needs device driver
Posted by kleefarr iol.ie> on January 26th, 2006

To start at the beginning,

My problem is regarding Windows XP sp2 and a Philips DVDR 1628P1.
Everything was working fine until I decided to remove the dvd software
(cyberlink DVD) and replace it with Nero 6.0.1.18. After removing cyberlink I
installed Nero, InCD and easy read/writer.
After installing these I had a problem with shutting down. Realising that it
must have been due to one of the new installations, I removed them all and
installed one at a time shutting down each time, it didn't when InCD was
installed.
I discovered that the version of InCD I had was incompatible with windows
xp. So I uninstalled InCD and used a driver cleaner to make sure the drivers
were completely removed.
After doing this I now have the problem were the philips dvdr is detected by
windows xp, is in device manager, but there is an error. When uninstalled and
rebooted, it is again detected, but then I'm informed that it's "not working
properly because the device driver is missing or corrupt".
When I check properties in device manager it says "device driver error 39".
I have done an auto update driver search via properties in device manager,
nothing.
I have done a system restore and last know good configuration, nothing.
I have done an internet search and cannot find a device driver.
I do not have the xp disk as it was a licence install from the maker, who
have a recovery program on the pc. This hasn't worked either. So I assume
that the device driver may have been wiped out of the system by the driver
cleaner.

Please can anyone suggest where I might find one or suggest any other
remedies.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

INCD version 4.3.20.1 works quite nicely with XP .....its is on the Nero

I heard that there was an updated version that worked with win XP. But
unfortunately that doesn't doesn't get round the problem of no device driver.
Would reinstalling a newer version load any device drivers to the DVDR? I
wouldn't have thought it would.
