- Error cose 1000-0141
- Posted by Jamesg on May 8th, 2006
When I turn on my computer I receive error code 1000-0141 and am told the
hard drive is not available (I have Windows XP home).
I've read around this site and it sounds like the hard drive is dead.
Can this happen if the laptop was hit or knocked suddenly?
Also, is there anyway i can get the data off it at all - like if i took it to
a shop somewhere?
Please help

"Can this happen if the laptop was hit or knocked suddenly?"
Oh yes.
"Also, is there anyway i can get the data off it at all - like if i took it
to a shop somewhere?"
You'll need to bring the laptop to a professional recovery organization, and
you'll also need to bring lots of $100 bills.
Before you break open the piggy bank, obtain the disk diagnostics from the
manufacturer of the hard disk - they're downloadable from the manufacturer's
web site - and run them. That'll tell you what kind of problem you have.
