Floppy disk drive attempts to access disk even when no disk presen
Posted by Lanikai on October 12th, 2005

I installed Google earth software on my computer and had problems with my
computer locking up. I used the Windows XP software removal process to
remove the Google earth software from my system.
After removing the software, my floppy disk drive repeatedly tries to access
a disk even when the drive is empty.
In addition, when I use the cd/rw drive the the drive will run a cd,
however, rather than stopping slowly the drive seems to simply stop all at
once and makes a noise which sounds like the cd is turning on the spindle
which has completely stopped spinning.

See if clearing your recently opened documents helps the floppy situation issue.
Right-click Start, properties, start menu tab, customize button, advanced tab...
