Step 1: Backup all important files to CDs or DVDs.
Step 2: Remove all the viruses and spyware.
Step 3: Combine the partitions using Norton Partition Magic
- or -
Move data folders to the D drive, following the instructions here:
"How to Move Shell Folders (and contents)"
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_shell_folders.htm
Step 4: Have your father-in-law read this:

i had something like u have.i removed the d drive from my computer.before u
remove a drive unpluge pc or u damage mother board .just open sides of pc
remove 40 pin ribbon wire from d drive & power plug.4 screaws.i bought an usb
to ide kit.( its a wire & transformer $35.00 ) i plug the d drive into my
usb the pc has 1 drive.its fast.i keep the d drive unpluged from the usb
while i'm surfing.then u don't have to move stuff off the d drive.u can get a
2nd 2nd hand drive to connect to the kit for even more room..if ur getting
casion games they might be calling home.u might want to download seagate
firewall v5.turn off microsoft firewall install seagate.because it stops
calling home spyware.

janfeb, i thank you for you help but how do i keep both drives? the first one
has everyone's stuff and the art center stuff. there are 3 people who work on
this and i want to keep one of them drives for the art stuff and one for
people who like to down load stuff from on line like casion games, play pogo,
look up plans for houses? vacations can be so far away, that nobody gose on..
play free games that have to be down loaded and thinks everything has to go
on the hard drive. i don't work there but was asked cause my father-in-law
was very up set when it took 35 min. to find the artist that is coming in
april for a show and couldn't get the inforation all in one spot.it was every
where. not a cool guy at this point. so many you have an idear? tks deb

first double click my computer on desk top then right click drive d click
properties click tools click error-checking .check mark both boxs.may run an
1 hr or 2 ( it's scandisk) then do drive c. u could create multiple desk
tops.1 for each person useing pc. PLUS u could create a desk top called games
for everyone with just games on it PLUS a desk top called work related.right
click desk top click new folder start making folders for differt stuff.put
folders inside folders.put software in folders.right click a file >
properties > and click summary.when windows looks for something it looks in
summary.if its blank it messes up windows.try to put as much info here as u
can.for as many files as posably.u could turn on disk compressin or use
something free but like winzip.i don't know about this.supposedly winzip
things make a list of what they'r ziping . u could run disk defag u might
whant to look at this from microsoft.
