- Help with laptop display brightness

The brightness and contrast on my Compaq Presario laptop is such that I
cannot view the screen if I try to use the computer in any type of bright
light, especially out doors.
Is there anything that can be done to improve this situation?

That is common with most LCD displays. They wash out in bright lights.
Laptops and digital cameras share the problem..
